The Reward of Diligence

Hebrews 11:6

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. NIV

Lately, I have been studying my Bible in the Proverbs and the Holy Spirit keeps drawing my attention to the word diligence.  I am always eager to learn and listening to the teacher [the Holy Spirit].  I have learned some fresh revelation that will be of a great benefit to me and you the reader.  The word diligence means:

1.  Industrious; assiduous (assiduous means constant in application or attendant).

2.  Done with persevering, painstaking effort.

Looking at our text again, But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He [God] is, and that He [God] is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.  God our Father expects us to dig deep in the scriptures, grow our faith and when we come to Him we come on basis of knowing He is God the creator that operates entirely in faith and He will grant my desires because my desire is based on Who God is and what He will do.

Diligence is not popular among the lazy Christians.  It takes diligence to pursue anything in the natural realm and people work themselves endlessly to gain any type of increase that will benefit them for a short time.  Let me say to the Christian how much time are you willing to give to receive revelation from the Word of the Living God who speaks to us through it?  Everything has a price, but studying the Word of God reaps the best dividends, it pays off in the darkest night and in the biggest crisis.  This can only happen because persevering in the Word took place and the Word eaten many times over has come to the rescue on time.  Therefore, knowing the Word that is needed at any particular time, we can go to LORD and He will reward us because we are coming in faith based upon His holy Word. He will not deny us; we have diligently sought after Him and believe He will do it.

Moses speaking to the Children of Israel in Deut 28:1

Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. NKJV

Did you notice the word diligently; it means they will have to work at observing and keeping His commandments.  When work is done on purpose retracing our steps is easy, we know how to obtain the desired results; we are determined. That also will take just as much time and energy, but thank God we can do it with God’s help.

Finally, Proverb 8:17 I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me. NKJV

God is sincere and honest if we seek Him diligently we will find Him and He will reward us richly.  Let us pursue Him as never before and get more than we have ever had before.  Remember He said I love those who love me and those who seek me diligently shall find me.
