4th of July is this Tuesday. We are celebrating the Birthday of the United States of America, the land that we all love dearly. Make sure you pray for America and our leaders and for those that are in authority at each echelon of government. It is Biblical that we pray for our leaders.
4th of July is an exciting time of the year all over this land, flags will be flying high and they should be. What is s Flag? Webster tells us that “it is a piece of cloth or bunting varying in size, color, and design, used as a symbol, or a standard, it is also used for signaling or an emblem.
In the Bible the first mentioning of flag is in the Book of Numbers chapter 2.
NUMBERS 2: 1-2
1 And the Lord spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,
2 Every man of the children of Israel shall encamp by his own STANDARD, with the BANNER of their father’s house: over against the tabernacle of the congregation shall they encamp.
Flags are used to identify People, States or Nations. God wanted His people to be identified by their BANNER (flag); each tribe of Israel had their own BANNER.
We at the Church of the Firstborn have two banners. First we are identified with Jesus Christ. That’s what the Christian Flag means. I will share with you two references on this point from the Book of Psalms.
PSALMS 20: 5
5 We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our BANNERS: the Lord fulfill all thy petitions.
PSALMS 60: 4
4 Thou hast given a BANNER to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.
The second Flag we are identified with is the American Flag which identifies us as American citizens. America stands for democracy and freedom. It is one thing to be free in the natural but it is another matter entirely to be free in the spirit. We do not take our liberties lightly. We honor God in all that we say and do; therefore we maintain our freedom because He is the sustainer of life.
GALATIANS 5: 1
1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
“Whom the Son has set free is free indeed”.
Exodus 17:15 says:
15 And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovah-Nisi. (which means “The Lord My Banner”)
I thank God that the Lord Himself is Our Banner!
Word for Today: "WORDS OF lIFE"
Words have power. In the Gospel of Matthew Jesus said “We are justified by our words, or, we are condemned By our words.” They can bring either happiness or deepest despair; they can transfer knowledge from teacher to student. The Bible describes the power of words more succinctly when it says, “The power of life and death are in the tongue.” Our words impact everyone. Question, “Are you maximizing the effectiveness as a leader by choosing words of life?
