Know Your Heavenly Father Through His Word Part 6
Through the New Birth, we come to know Jesus personally as Savior and the Holy Spirit as the indwelling presence of God who makes His abode in our hearts.
But we must also get to know God the Father in a deeper, and more intimate way. And the best way to do so is through His Word!
Do you love Jesus? Do you believe that He came from God? (The answer would have to be yes if you are a Christian). Well, then, the Father himself loves you! So you can take courage today and be buoyed up in faith and confidence no matter what you are facing because nothing could be stronger or more comforting than knowing that the father Himself loves you, and He longs to bless you.
What a difference it would make in Christians lives if they’d just get acquainted with God through His Word. But a lot of people today are seeking deliverance and victory every other way in the world except God’s way. They’re worrying and fretting about their problems when God’s Word says, “Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything …” (Phil. 4:6 Amp.). Someone may ask, “Well, what do you do if you can’t worry?” You pray!
6 Be careful for nothing; but in everything by PRAYER AND SUPPLICATION WITH THANKSGIVING let your requests be made known unto God.
Years ago when I was part of a certain congregation, many of its members would ignore what this verse of Scripture is saying. They would rather solve their problems by getting me or someone else to counsel with them.
That is not God’s way of handling critical situations. I remember back in the Church where I got saved in, the saints in the Church used to pray things out. We would gather around the altar nearly every service and close out in prayer. Very seldom did Christians seek counseling because they were in the habit of taking their problems to the Lord in prayer.
Don’t misunderstand me. I’m not against Christian counseling. But for some folks, counseling has taken the place of prayer and study of the Word of God. Instead of getting into the Word of God for themselves, those people would rather look for someone to tell them what to do. They don’t realize how much their Heavenly Father loves them and is interested in them. If they wait long enough in His Presence, they would find out for themselves what to do or what not to do.
My dear friend, God is not unreasonable. I don’t believe your Heavenly Father would ever tell us to or not to do something we could not do. Let me close this series with this Scripture that the Apostle Paul wrote to Christians.
“I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHICH STRENGTHENETH ME” (Phil. 4:13)
Dearly beloved, God wants to be everything the Word says He is. So get to know Him better through His Word. Let His Word abide in your heart. You will rise to the place where you will no longer be fretful or afraid to face unpleasant circumstances. You’ll know that your Heavenly Father loves you, He is with you, and He cares for you!
Word of Today: "Something Larger"
History has consistently shown that people are hungry to live their lives for something larger than themselves. In fact, the need for a higher purpose is so basic to the Human soul, the Bible says, “Where there is no vision the people perish.” Numerous studies have shown that people will work harder, longer and better when they understand the significance of their individual contribution to Something Larger.
