Praise the Lord Saints of the Living God. Here we are again on this glorious day sharing the Word of God on this great subject of the gifts of the Spirit. Last week I spent some time reviewing what I shared in previous weeks about the manifestation of the gifts of the Spirit in my life right after I got filled with the Holy Ghost.
The truth of the matter is, back then I didn’t know what it was that allowed me to see my mother and my children saved as I prayed. But the manifestation of the word of knowledge started operating in my life and ministry from then on. Because I did not have any teaching on this subject I was very concerned about it. Somehow or another I would know of certain things supernaturally, and as this continued to be manifested I thought I had another spirit.
However, what I did know was that I didn’t get this manifestation until after I was in the Holy Ghost and spoke in other tongues, so I thought I must go along with it. Then in the process of time I began to study the subject, I started to see that I was operating in the word of knowledge.
Now the purpose and use of the word of knowledge can be seen in the Scriptures through those in whom this gift was manifested.
In the Old Testament when Israel was at war with Syria in Second Kings 6, the king of Syria said, “Someone is giving us away.” He assembled his cabinet and told them someone was telling his plans to the king of Israel.
2KINGS 6:11, 12 11
Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us is for the king of Israel?
12 And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O King: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber.
Every time Syria prepared to invade, Israel would know their plans ahead of time and would defeat them.
So one of the king’s men said, “There is a prophet of God over there who tells the king what you think in your bed chamber. His name is Elisha.” So they sent the Syrian army after him.
How did Elisha know what the Syrian army was planning to do, even before they did it? The word of knowledge was in manifestation in the prophet’s ministry to unveil the plans of Syria’s wicked king and saved the people of God. And the word of knowledge can be used in the same manner today.
I supposed the gift of the word of knowledge has operated (or has been manifested) in my life and ministry more than any other gifts of the Spirit.
Word for Today: "Serve"
Jesus said in Matthew 20: 28 (NIV) “I came to serve, not to be served.” That was the bluntly profound declaration Jesus made to His disciples one day. Here we have the greatest man who ever lived, God’s own Son, proclaiming the essence of His leadership style. He led by serving.
