The Resurrection Life
March 25th Devotional
What do you think about when you hear the word Resurrection? Some people think about the past. Some think of a stone that was rolled away. Some think of an empty tomb. And others think about our Risen Savior.
Others would even think of the future. They think of a day to come when all of us who believe will rise to meet the Lord gloriously in the sky. But the Resurrection is far more than an event from the past…. or a hope for the future. Resurrection Life is in progress at this very moment in the lives of millions around the world.
In fact if you are a believer, you are – right now, today – a resurrected being! Have you ever thought about that? I’ve known that, but several years ago, the Lord gave me a richer understanding of it than I’ve had before. And it absolutely changed my life. One of the passages He led me to was Luke 24: 1-6.
Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulcher, bringing the spices, which they had prepared, and certain others with them. And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulcher. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed there about, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is Risen: remember how he spake unto you when He was in Galilee.
We know firsthand that “He Is Risen!”
We were spiritually resurrected the day we made Jesus the Lord of our lives. That day, we passed from death unto life. Think about that! When you made Jesus the Lord of your life, the Spirit of God hovered over you. The glory of God came into your being. And the Glory consumed the old, sinful man that you were. That old man died! And in his place the new creature was born.
Second Corinthians 5:17 put it this way: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
And according to Romans 6:11 we are to consider ourselves “indeed dead unto to sin, but alive unto God through Christ Jesus our Lord.” This don’t happen when you get to heaven, not when Jesus comes again… but right now!
O yes, there will be a day when the earthly bodies we live in will be raised and glorified – But we don’t have to wait until then to be free from sin and from sickness and poverty and failure that goes with the natural world.
We have the Resurrected Life of God in our spirit today. Our spirit has already been Resurrected. We’ve been raised up! As Romans 8:37 say, “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.”
You may be sitting there thinking, well, if I am a conqueror, why am I living like the conquered? Why can’t I quit smoking? Why I can’t lose weight? Why am I always sick? You have allowed Satan to convince you this is God’s will for you. Not so my beloved. It is time to stop wandering around in sin, sickness and failure and step into the Resurrection Life.
Word For Today: Forgiveness
Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do." (Luke 23:24) Words are powerful, one of the last words Jesus said while hanging from the cross were words of forgiveness. His words on the cross are a powerful example of how you and I ought to treat those who mistreat us. Can you follow Jesus' example and forgive those who mistreat you?
