The Virgin Birth Part 2

And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God.  And, behold ,thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.  He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto  Him the throne of His father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever;  and of his kingdom there shall be no end.  Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall  this be, seeing I know not a man?  And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.  -  Luke 1:30-35

Last week I started this wonderful series, “The Virgin Birth!”  And in doing so I shared the Scriptures that bears the prophecy about this marvelous event.  I titled that portion of this article “The Incarnation!”  Then I started discussing the “Preexistence” of Jesus Christ.  The Scripture text I used to explain this point is taken from the Gospel of John 1: 1-3.  So let’s go ahead and pick up where I stopped last time.

Jesus, the Word, had a separate existence before He came to the earth.  In the beginning, He was with God in fellowship and purpose.  He possessed the same nature as God.  He existed in the same form as God, and had equality with God.  And yet He took upon Himself the body of a man.  He became flesh that He might become man’s redeemer.

God performed a miracle by taking Jesus from Heaven and placing Him in the womb of a virgin to take on flesh by a unique conception. When Christ became man, He did not assume humanity as a garment to be worn for 33 years, then cast it off and lay it aside.  He became man for eternity.  Therefore, as a result of the Incarnation, today in Heaven there is a man at the Father’s right hand.

1 TIMOTHY 2:5

5 For there is one God, and mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus.

God created man in His own image just a shade lower than Himself – so nearly like God that the Incarnation made it possible for God and man to become united in one individual – Jesus Christ.  The Incarnation illustrates for us a principle – God can impart His life and nature into our spirits and dwell in our human bodies.  That’s what takes place at the New Birth.  Let’s look at a few Scriptures that bear this out.

1 CORINTHIANS 3: 16

16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

ROMANS 8:11

11 But if the Spirit of Him that raised up

Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His spirit that dwelleth in you.

2 PETER 1:4

4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

When someone is Born Again, the Spirit of God comes into that person’s spirit and eradicate spiritual death from the spirit of man and give man spiritual life.  Praise God!

Word for Today: "Taking the Steps"

Few people start a venture with the goal of staying small and ineffective.  No, God made us to desire growth.  He constructed us with a desire to achieve.  In fact, the very first marching orders mankind received from God was a mandate to generate increase through the ability He gave them to be fruitful and multiply.  I have a question for you, “Are you merely hoping for an increase, or are you taking the necessary steps that are outlined in the Word of God to make it happen?”  As long as the earth exists, the Law of Seed Time and Harvest is available to us.  Take full advantage of it.
