The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He hath Anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.” Luke 4:18, 19
If you have the Holy Spirit within you, you can say just as Jesus said, “He has anointed me.” Why? Because the Spirit of God comes with the power of His anointing. Have you ever noticed in the Scriptures that there is a connection between the “Power” and the “Spirit of God”? For example, look at Zechariah 4:6.
6 Then he answered and spake unto me saying, this is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbael saying, Not by might, nor by Power, but by My Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.
In this verse, the Lord said that His work would not be accomplished through the might or power of man, or man’s army, but by the power of the Spirit of God. This coincides with what the prophet Isaiah said, in Isaiah 10:27.
27 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the Anointing.
Notice that the burden wouldn’t be removed by carnal might. No, the burden would be removed and the yoke will be destroyed because of the Anointing of the Spirit of God! Jesus said, “The Spirit of God is upon Me, and He has anointed me.” So if you’re full of the Spirit of God, you have power too. Too often folks think, well, the people in the five fold ministry are the anointed. And that’s true. There is a special anointing that comes upon those called to the five fold ministry, which separates them unto a certain ministry and enables them to stand in a particular office. But you need to realize that you are anointed too!
Remember what Jesus said in John’s Gospel?
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and GREATER WORKS THAN THESE SHALL HE DO; because I go unto my Father.
This is one of many Scriptures that tell us about the signs that will follow the believer. Every believer has the anointing abiding upon him and in him. Every believer is anointed by God.
Word for Today: Be a Teacher
I once heard it said, “Be a Teacher and Be a Hero.” When it comes to examining the Bible for keys to supernatural increase, this phrase is very clear, Be a Teacher. Be a Success.” Great leaders don’t hide in ivory towers plotting strategy. They teach by instilling in those around them their ideas and values. This is the approach Jesus demonstrated. He was often called “Rabbi,” which simply means teacher. His effectiveness is evidenced by the success of His pupils.“Be a Teacher!”
