Possessing

What God Has Given You!

But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, WITH MEN THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE; BUT WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE.   Matthew 19:26

Sometimes it may seem impossible to possess what God has promised you.  But the Word says, “That with God, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!”  At times, there may be barriers in your life blocking your pathway to success.  So today, I want to continue to share with you some truths from the Word of God that will help you learn how to possess what God says is yours.

As I closed last time I was sharing that don’t let circumstances of life get you down, but keep on believing the Word of God.  Let’s go ahead and read last week’s closing statement one more time.

No matter what it feels like, remember that we don’t walk by feelings or by sight.  We walk by what we believe.  So keep on believing the Word of God and the promises it contains.  God can make the impossible possible!

Let’s look at God’s plan and His promise to make the impossible possible for Joshua and the Israelites.

JOSHUA 3:7, 8 (NIV)

7 And the Lord said to Joshua, “Today I will begin to exalt you in the eyes of all Israel, so they may know that I am with you as I was with Moses.

8 Tell the priests who carry the Ark of the Covenant: “When you reach the edge of the Jordan’s waters, go and stand in the river.”

The priests were told to pick up the Ark of the Covenant and go stand in the river.

If the priests had merely gone and stood at the edge of the Jordan’s waters, nothing would have happened.  They had been told to stand in the river.  Nothing happened until they stepped into the waters.

To take possession of what God says belongs to you; you’re going to have to do something.  As I have said before, if the priest had just stood on the banks of the Jordan River and never taken a step into the water, nothing would have happened

They had to obey God.  We too, must obey the plan He has given us.  In order to receive anything from God there are two things we have to understand:  Faith and Obedience.

You can make your faith confessions all day long, but until you obey what God has told you in His Word, nothing is going to happen!  I see many people confessing things and talking about their faith.  But they are not doing anything about obeying the Word of God.

When you make the first step of obedience, something begins to happen.  The Holy Spirit on the inside of you will show you how to get across the river that is at flood stage in your life.

I will continue this lesson next week, until then go ahead and POSSESS YOUR PROMISED LAND.

Word for Today: Gracious Words

You probably know someone who always seems to have just the right words at just the right time.  Most people aren’t born with that gift. It is cultivated and developed.  Colossians 4: 6 says, “Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.”  By faith, ask God, and He will give you gracious words to speak today.
