I started this series about “The Woman – Wife - Mother” that God created. The last two weeks I spent quite a bit of time talking about “A True Wife!” This week I would like to share with you some important information on “The Role of The Godly Mother!”
Isaiah 44:24 in the Amplified Bible tells us something very interesting concerning children. It reads: Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, and He who formed you from the womb: I am the Lord, Who made all things, Who alone stretched out the heavens, Who spread out the earth by Myself (who was with me)?
Let’s pay close attention to the phrase “… He who formed you from the womb …” That means life from the womb is being God-formed. If you become pregnant, it is important that from the time you are aware of conception, you should start speaking to your child.
Speak forth the goodness of God. Speak that the child is alive unto God. Speak that the child is just like its maker. Speak that the child is healthy, strong, and perfect because it is being formed by God. You are speaking forth truth, and the truth shall prevail.
Now, let’s go on to the area of Training Up of Your Child. The apostle Paul has some comments on this subject. Please turn with me to 2 Timothy 3: 15 reading from the Amplified Bible. And how from your childhood you have had knowledge of and being acquainted with the sacred Writings, which are able to instruct you and give you the understanding for salvation which comes through faith in Christ Jesus (through the leaning of the entire human personality on God in Christ Jesus in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness).
As a child, I was trained in a manner similar to what the apostle Paul is talking about. Although my parents were Roman Catholics, (my mother and step-father) my mother taught me to reverence the Word of God, and the things of God. And that has stayed with me through my life. The foundation was laid. So when I was old enough I did not depart from what I was taught about God from my childhood. Mothers, you have the responsibility to teach your children the Word of God. And you must begin this process when they are small.
But it is also important that you put in your children the principles of sound discipline. That teaches them to be a disciplined person. By doing so you will cultivate in your child the ability to understand authority and have respect for you, for himself, and for the people and things around him.
I will conclude this article with this scripture from Proverbs 19:18 reading from the Amplified Bible. Discipline your son while there is hope, but do not (indulge your angry resentments by undue chastisements and) set yourself to his ruin.
There is a proper way to discipline – not through anger, but through love. Because you love your child, you want to keep him from error. You want to teach him what is wrong in his life, and at the same time teach how to be a loving and obedient child. Thank God for Godly mothers and the important impact they have on their children. God Bless you.
Word for Today: "Prepration"
Whether you’re laying the foundation for a career, launching a new product, or making a presentation, there is no substitute for preparation. It would be impossible to ignore the fact that Jesus taught us in a powerful way the importance of preparation – both in His example and in His words. Many of the parables He used admonish us to be well prepared. And Jesus personally prepared for thirty years before executing His plan. We may not have thirty years to prepare, but the principle remains the same. Ask yourself this question, “Am I preparing adequately, or am I flying by the seat of my pants?”
